Just as I suspected last night, the AP is reporting this afternoon that Hillary Clinton was forced to put $5 million of her own money into the campaign in the final days before Super Tuesday.  The fact that her campaign is admitting this slightly embarrassing fact shows just how desperate the situation is.  They aren’t revealing their financial troubles for no reason, they’re sending a smoke signal to Hillary’s supporters: ”We need cash.  Badly.  Now.”  Which brings me to another oddity I hadn’t thought of until today.  In the last few weeks, I was struck by the number of times Hillary Clinton, either during debates or press conferences or campaign rallies, awkwardly plugged her website.  At the time, I thought maybe she was trying to up her visibility on the web and thus cut into the advantages Obama has among younger and more educated voters.  But today it hit me.  She’s directing people to her website so they’ll click on that big red button in the middle of the front page.
