STOP GIVING ANN COULTER ATTENTION!

HuffPo takes the bait

Every time the media gives Ann Coulter attention, an angel gets its wings sawed off.  The Huffington Post should really think hard about not taking every piece of liberal bait she throws in the water, and not dedicating all their above-the-fold space, including World War II sized headlines, to making Ann Coulter that much more famous.  I guarantee that half her book sales come from liberals who rush to Borders on the release date and read through cover-to-cover with a furious erection looking for things to get offended at, hoping that the next controversial remark she makes will be the one that finally crosses the line and ends her career.

But the thing about Coulter is that there are no lines for her, only headlines.  And the self-perpetuating cycle between her mouth and the media’s tired indignation will never be broken on her end.  It pays far too well, and her cult of followers only grows larger with each new controversy.  So it’s up to the HuffPos of the world to start showing some restraint.  The next time they’re tempted to devote the entire front page of their politics section to Ann Coulter, they should ask themselves how much it would cost her to advertise her next book in that large of a space.  Because that’s exactly what they’re giving her for free.  But most importantly, the media needs to understand that the best thing they could possibly do is ignore her– impose a media blackout on everything that comes out of her mouth until everyone who doesn’t watch Fox News forgets who she is and she becomes irrelevant.  Because that’s the only possible scenario in which she’ll ever stop talking.  Careers like Ann Coulter’s never die, they just fade away.

I agree with your article, but what’s weird is that it turned your Google AdSense block into an Ann Coulter commercial. And man, what if this made front page news on Digg?
