Hillary Clinton caught lying about her “experience” in Bosnia

By Griffin · March 21st, 2008 · 1 Comment

Earlier today, The Washington Post blew apart some dubious claims Hillary Clinton made last week about the dangers involved in her 1996 trip to Bosnia.  In a March 17th speech at George Washington University, Clinton told supporters:

I certainly do remember that trip to Bosnia, and as [former Army secretary] Togo [West] said, there was a saying around the White House that if a place was too small, too poor, or too dangerous, the president couldn’t go, so send the First Lady. That’s where we went.

I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base.

If you’ll remember, comedian Sinbad, who came along for the trip along with singer Sheryl Crow, questioned Clinton’s version of events:

I think the only ‘red-phone’ moment was: “Do we eat here or at the next place?” … What kind of president would say “Hey man, I can’t go ’cause I might get shot so I’m going to send my wife. Oh, and take a guitar player and a comedian with you.”

Clinton later dismissed Sinbad as “a comedian.”  Clinton campaign spokesman Phil Singer added, “The sad reality of what was going on in Bosnia at the time Senator Clinton traveled there as first lady has been well documented.”

Strangely, no one in the media could seem to find a single report of sniper fire or any kind of security threat whatsoever, either in the air or on the ground.  But the Washington Post and Newsbusters did however find a few photos and video of the harrowing incident in question.

Here’s a picture of Hillary Clinton arriving at Tuzla Air Force base under sniper fire:

And here are two screen grabs from CBS News footage of the terrifying incident. They show Hillary and Chelsea running with their heads down to get into the vehicles:

Run for your lives!! Get down, Chelsea!

And finally, Newsbusters provides us with the heart-stopping video. As you can see, the sniper fire is coming from all directions, though it looks remarkably like camera flashes.  There is a particularly heroic moment when the little girl in the pictures above throws herself in front of Hillary Clinton to shield the first lady from a hail of oncoming bullets, while at the same time pulling an automatic rifle from her purple bubble jacket and returning fire.  But within minutes, Clinton uses her lifetime of experience to negotiate peace between the two sides, and everyone puts down their weapons and agrees to free trade and universal health care.

After single-handedly resolving an intense international crisis such as this, how can anyone ever again question the fact that Hillary Clinton is the most qualified and experienced presidential candidate in American history?

UPDATE: Here’s the YouTube video of Hillary’s action-packed airport arrival. The movie rights have been sold, Michael Bay is set to direct, and Will Smith has been cast in the role of Hillary. Bruce Willis will play the girl in the purple jacket.

Liberals never lie. The liberal press believes everything another liberal says. Sound familiar? Just ask the other countries who press is just an arm of the government.
