Sarah Palin not greeted as liberator at hockey game in Philly

By Griffin · October 13th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Whichever McCain staffer thought up the idea of sending Sarah Palin to a hockey game in Philly to drop the puck should be fired. No questions asked, no excuses.

This might have been the easiest call in sports/politics history. I mean, in the middle of a heated campaign, you’re sending a Republican with sky-high negatives, into the bluest, least BS-tolerant area of Pennsylvania for a cutesy photo-op with the kids in front of 20,000 rabid hockey fans. There was simply no other way for this to turn out. Maybe next they’ll have Palin walk through a few neighborhoods in Baghdad. Don’t worry, it’s been safe since last March.

For the record, this is officially my new favorite sports/politics train wreck moment. Replacing this one:

    I enjoyed this…

“This conclusion is one she shares with Robert Shelton, Imperial Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan in the 1950s, who declared that “amalgamation is ultimately the goal of the Communist element.” (To be fair, these conclusions make a bit of sense: could there be a more perfect vessel for a secret communist takeover of the United States than a biracial one-term senator from Chicago with an Arabic-sounding name? At a Starbucks somewhere, Chairman Mao is leeching WiFi for a quick instant message to William Ayers: “It’s happening exactly how we planned it.”)”
