Here’s the videos of Barack Obama and John McCain roasting each other at last night’s Al Smith Dinner. A refreshing, and surprisingly entertaining, mental health break before the final stretch.
Obama’s best shot at himself:
Many of you know that I got my name “Barack” from my father. What you may not know is “Barack” is actually Swahili for “that one.” And I got my middle name from somebody who obviously didn’t think I’d ever run for president.
Obama’s best shot at McCain:
And while the collapse of the housing market’s been tough on every single homeowner, I think we all need to recognize that this crisis has been eight times harder on John McCain.
He also got in a couple great shots on Fox News and Rudy Giuliani.
Now McCain’s turn. His best shot at himself:
Events are moving fast in this campaign. And yes, it’s true that this morning I dismissed my entire team of senior advisers. All of their positions will now be held by a man named Joe the Plumber.
McCain’s best shot at Obama:
[Chris Matthews] used to like me, but he found somebody new. Somebody who opened his eyes, somebody who gave him a thrill up his leg. And we talked about it. I told him, “Maverick I can do, but messiah is above my pay grade.”
He also had a pretty funny extended riff on Bill and Hillary Clinton’s less than full-throated support for Obama.
